Per Gearhart City Code, Public Communications will house both written correspondence, and oral comments from those requesting to make a statement concerning issues not on the agenda, for up to 5 minutes. In-person attendees wishing to speak are required to sign-in prior to the start of the meeting. Online attendees wishing to speak are required to email the following to the City Recorder at info@cityofgearhart.com no later than 4:00 p.m. the day of the meeting:

  • full name
  • full address
  • topic you will address

"Hands raised" by those requesting to speak during Oral Communications who did not do so in advance, whether in-person or online, will not be called on. Any exception is at the Mayor's discretion.

Open discussion called for during New and Old Business will occur prior to Council debate on a given topic, is limited to 3 minutes for both in-person and online attendees, and is at the discretion of the Mayor/meeting Chair.

Talking out of turn and/or back-and-forth conversation will not be tolerated. Council meetings are not town halls. Public comments are intended for the public to make a statement in an open forum; not to open up a Q&A discussion.
