Finalists in the candidate search for a new Police Chief will be in Gearhart next week to meet with City Council, staff, and the public. The Gearhart Police Chief position is currently vacant, with duties being fulfilled on an interim basis by Sergeant Ian Brown. The City of Gearhart is hosting a public reception for community members to meet the candidates:

Monday, May 8, 2023, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

~Interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in Executive Session and are closed to the public~

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a majority of the Gearhart City Council and other Committees may be present at this event. No formal action will be taken. Although no business will be conducted during the reception, the event potentially constitutes a meeting of the Gearhart City Council and other Committees and must be noticed as such.

 

 

MEET THE CANDIDATES:

Joshua Gregory -  Candidate Finalist

Joshua Gregory has twenty years of law enforcement and security experience. He currently serves as Detective Sergeant for the City of Seaside and is a Drug Recognition Expert—Region 1/North Coast Regional Coordinator for the Oregon Drug Enforcement Classification Program (IACP). Joshua holds a BA in Public Safety Administration and an MBA both from Northwest University.

John Walker - Candidate Finalist

John Walker has a background in the public and private sectors as well as serving as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was Senior Deputy with Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office for over 11 years, and is currently Sales Manager for Vision Mortgage Group. John completed post-secondary course work in Animal Science and holds an AS in General Education from Clatsop Community College.
