In relation to water quality, the EPA and OHA Drinking Water required a water service line inventory across the state of Oregon to check for lead. The inventory occurred in 2024. OHA Drinking Water requires the inventory be accessible to the City's water customers. The file is available below.
The City of Gearhart was required by EPA and OHA Drinking Water to complete a water service line inventory. All houses built after January 1, 1986 are considered non-lead. After review, we found 650 homes built before this date. The City was required to physically inspect 20% of these homes built before 01/01/1986. In our inspections, we found no lead lines. In my 25 years with the City, I am confident no lead service lines have been installed in the City of Gearhart. -- Mark McFadden, Public Works Director
